Fresh Talent, Fresh Energy: Meet Our Summer Intern
Bringing on a summer intern is more than just filling a short-term role—it’s an opportunity to invest in fresh perspectives and support emerging talent, strengthening our team in meaningful ways. Each year, we look forward to welcoming student talent and providing them a strong environment to learn, grow and contribute their skills to make a genuine impact.
We had so many incredible students who applied for this year’s internship, and we are grateful for their interest in our work. To those who didn’t land a role, we encourage you to keep applying as we are always on the lookout for great talent.
Samantha’s combination of experience, maturity, authenticity, and a keen interest in contributing to the PR world was undeniable. We are very happy to share that she is joining us for the summer!
As a fun way to kick start her internship with us, we conducted a fun ‘Hot Seat Q & A’ interview session with her:
Tell us a little about yourself – who is Samantha Brown?
I like to say “yes” to new experiences. Whether it’s a spontaneous trip with friends or an unexpected job offer, I’m always up for something different. I think life is more exciting when you’re open to anything. When I’m not working or studying, you’ll usually find me reading a novel or attempting to enjoy a workout or hike.
As a mature student returning to post-secondary studies, what drew you to the public relations field?
I have always enjoyed connecting with people and have strong writing skills, so public relations seemed like the perfect fit. It gives me the chance to grow and challenge myself while helping others every day. At first, I felt unsure about being a mature student, but as I continued my education and moved forward, I realized it has become an advantage. My years outside of school and experience in different jobs have given me a well-rounded perspective that I believe is valuable in the PR field.
What attracted you to our agency and this internship opportunity?
During the 2026 winter semester, I was lucky to have Paula as my professor and to take part in the Worthington PR Learning Lab. Both experiences made the summer internship opportunity very appealing. Paula is a great role model for public relations professionals and business owners. Her skills and leadership are evident throughout Worthington PR. Along with the Learning Lab, I also learned directly from the Worthington team. Because of this, I felt confident applying for the internship and could picture myself fitting in well at Worthington.
What are you most looking forward to learning here?
I look forward to learning directly from the Worthington team. Everyone at Worthington is so talented with such unique backgrounds and skill sets. I feel extremely lucky to spend time absorbing the knowledge each member has to impart.
If you could plan PR for any celebrity, brand, or event, who would it be?
The Calgary Stampede would be my dream event to plan PR for. Having grown up in Calgary, I remember attending Stampede events; it always felt like the city’s own personal Christmas, with Calgary at its best for the world to see. With so many aspects to cover, it would be a rewarding challenge.
What would make this internship a huge success for you?
For me, success means knowing I was helpful and made a real contribution to the team. I want to take part in every event, opportunity, and challenge with confidence in myself and the skills I gain throughout my time at Worthington PR.
