How Strategic PR and Communications Can Build Meaningful Connections
At Worthington PR & Story, our mission is to help brands share their stories with the world. Our goal isn’t only to raise brand awareness, but to ultimately use strategic PR to build connections that create a lasting, meaningful impact. We take great pride in helping our clients accomplish this through targeted storytelling, thoughtful media and influencer relations and purpose-driven campaigns that resonate with audiences, foster trust and drive authentic connection.
Lately, we’ve had the privilege of supporting several projects that demonstrate the role of strategic PR and communications in building these connections and supporting client success.
Launching Community Connection with Taza
In May, we were thrilled to celebrate a long-anticipated milestone with Taza as they officially opened the doors to the Taza Park Sales & Marketing Centre. Throughout the project, WPRS was proud to support the launch of the Centre through a coordinated media relations strategy, digital storytelling and on-the-ground communications support. From crafting communications materials and fostering our relationships with local media and content creators to highlighting the story and spirit of the space across digital platforms, our team worked closely with Taza to help ensure the launch reflected the energy, vision and cultural significance of the development.
This newly unveiled space is the heart of Taza Park’s story and the first tangible glimpse into the innovative community. Aligning with WPRS’s mission, the Centre stands as a storytelling tool that welcomes people in, fosters connection and brings the vision of Taza Park to life in a meaningful, lasting way. The Sales & Marketing Centre offers visitors the opportunity to engage with Tsuut’ina culture and witness how traditions and values have shaped every element of the community. It is also a gathering space, welcoming future residents, neighbours and visitors to come together, learn and connect.

Parks Foundation: A Collaborative Approach to Creating Community Spaces
For 40 years, the Parks Foundation has used a community-first approach to develop parks and green spaces to enrich Calgary’s outdoor landscape and enhance our city’s identity and quality of life. The Parks Foundation collaborates with community members to identify gaps and establish parks where they are most needed, bringing together donors, communities and key organizations to create a lasting impact.
To support the Parks Foundation, WPRS provides strategic media relations surrounding each park announcement, groundbreaking, or opening, as well as recognizing other timely media opportunities to position the organization as a community leader in their field. This strategic storytelling familiarizes Parks Foundation with new and existing audiences, builds trust across the community and invites Calgarians to both participate in the conversation surrounding the city’s park spaces and enjoy them.
Elevating Local Impact with the Field Law Community Fund
The Field Law Community Fund Program empowers local changemakers by providing funding for local pay-it-forward ideas that positively impact their local communities. Since its launch, the program has awarded one million dollars to support 167 initiatives across Alberta and the Northwest Territories.
While WPRS supports Field Law on an ongoing basis, the Community Fund Program has a special place in our hearts as a project that truly focuses on community impact. Throughout the project, we help amplify the program’s reach and impact through strategic public relations and storytelling, providing communications support that includes crafting media materials, key messaging and web and social media content.
By helping share the stories behind the incredible ideas submitted to the Community Fund, we help Field Law build stronger relationships across the regions they serve, amplify their commitment to community investment and showcase the power of community-driven innovation.
Using Storytelling to Share University District’s Vibrant Growth
A long-time client, University District (U/D), is another powerful example of how strategic communications can foster authentic community connection. As a community, U/D is deeply committed to creating meaningful connections, going above and beyond to ensure the community is a place where people can live, work and thrive.
Through a strategic mix of media relations, content development and authentic storytelling, WPRS supports U/D in creating meaningful connections that drive engagement and strengthen the development’s identity. From supporting media relations for community events that bring locals and visitors together to crafting digital content that showcases the people and the places at the heart of University District, we use strategic communications that align with U/D’s core values to amplify the development’s story and collaboratively bolster University District’s ongoing growth as a vibrant, connected community.

Together, the success of these projects testifies to how strategic communications can help inspire action, foster trust and strengthen community, ultimately driving essential connections for clients.
