Introducing the WPRS Learning Lab

We are proud to have many PR grads and students on our team and are thrilled to be introducing our new WPRS Learning Lab! As we continue to grow, we know that student development is essential for the next generation of professional communicators to thrive.

This student-focused program will begin during the Winter 2023 semester and applications will be made available exclusively to public relations students enrolled in Calgary.

• What is the purpose? 

The WPRS Learning Lab’s core purpose is to bridge student learning and industry experience in a public relations agency. A handful of carefully selected students will get an inside look at agency life while building meaningful connections with communications professionals. Having the opportunity for students to see public relations in-action will facilitate experiential learning for students and guide them as they explore many different areas of communications such as:

• • social media strategy and execution
  • creative writing/copywriting
  • media/influencer relations
  • graphic design
  • event planning and production
  • key message/brand development

• Why the “WPRS Learning Lab”?

Communications is a dynamic field where learning is essential to every aspect of what we do for our clients and team. As lifelong learners, we know the value of continuing education, and we’re eager to share our expertise with the next generation of professional communicators. Our multidisciplinary team has a wide variety of educational backgrounds and skills which have laid the foundation for our changemaking communications approach. Our team members are excited to share their real-world communications knowledge and aid emerging communicators as they begin their careers through the WPRS Learning Lab.

• What kind of things will Learning Lab students do? 

The WPRS Learning Lab is designed to excite students and introduce them to what their careers might look like post-graduation. Specifically, students will participate in two WPRS Learning Lab Sessions throughout the semester with leading industry professionals from the WPRS team, one shadow day with one of our skilled team members and exclusive paid and volunteer opportunities with our clients during and after their time in the WPRS Learning Lab.
